22.3 Egypt's relations with its neighbours were____.
21.5 From the last sentence of this passage we conclude that _____.
2. It was not yet eleven o'clock when a boat crossed the river with a single passenger who had obtained his transportation at that unusual hour by promising an extra fare. While the youth stood on the landing-place searching in his pocket for money, the ferryman lifted a lantern, by the aid of which, together with the newly risen moon, he took a very accurate survey of the stranger's figure. He was a young man of barely eighteen years, evidently country bred, and now, as it seemed, on his first visit to town. He was wearing a tough gray coat, which was in good shape, but which had seen many winters before this one. The garments under his coat were well constructed of leather, and fitted tightly to a pair of muscular legs; his stockings of blue yarn must have been the work of a mother or sister, and on his head was a three-cornered hat, which in its better days had perhaps sheltered the grayer head of the lad's father. In his left hand was a walking stick, and his equipment was completed by a leather bag not so abundantly stocked as to inconvenience the strong shoulders on which it hung. Brown, curly hair, well-shaped features, bright, cheerful eyes were nature's gifts, and worth all that art could have done for his adornment. The youth, whose name was Robin, paid the boatman, and then walked forward into the town with a light step, as if he had not already traveled more than thirty miles that day. As he walked, he surveyed his surroundings as eagerly as if he were entering London or Madrid, instead of the little metropolis of a New England colony.26. The story took place in____.A. springB. summerC. fallD. winter
24.Early in my travels, I had noticed these“new things” under the sun, and since they occur in increasing numbers all over the nation, it is interesting to observe them. From the beginning of my travels I had noticed the sale lots where they were sold and traded, but then I began to be aware of the parks where they sit down in uneasy permanence.By talking to the managers of the parks and to the dwellers in this new kind of housing, I got to know that these trailers are wonderfully built homes. Some of them are even forty feet long and they have two to five rooms, and are complete with air-conditioners, toilets, baths, and televisions. The parks where they sit are equipped with every facility. When a mobile home is drawn to the trailer park (活动住屋的停车场),water and electric power will be connected and the television antenna raised, and then the family settle down. The park men charge a small ground rent plus fees for water and electricity. Telephones are connected in nearly all of them simply by plugging in a jack (插座). Sometimes the park has a general store for supplies, if there are no supermarkets nearby. Parking difficulties in the towns have caused these trailers to move to the open country where they don’t have to pay town taxes. The fact that these homes can be moved does not mean that they do move. Sometimes their owners stay for years in one place. It is a totally new and appealing way of life to me. These homes are never cheap and often are quite expensive with all the thousand appliances we live by—dishwashers, automatic clothes washers and driers, refrigerators.(10分)24.1 The author noticed the “ new things” (Para.1)when .(2分)A. he worked in the countryB. he traveled on a sunny dayC. he traveled around the countryD. he tried to talk to manager in the park

4. Fifty volunteers were alphabetically divided into two equal groups, Group A to participate in a 7 week exercise program, and Group B to avoid deliberate exercise of any sort during those 7 weeks. On the day before the exercise program began, all 50 men participated in a step-test. This consisted of stepping up and down on a 16-inch bench at 30 steps a minute for 5 minutes. One minute after completion of the step-test, the pulse rate of each subject was taken had recorded. This served as the pretest for the experiment. For the next 7 weeks, subjects in the experimental group (Group A) rode an Exercycle (a motor-driven bicycle-type exercise machine) for 15 minutes each day. The exercise schedule called for riders to ride relaxed during the first day's ride, merely holding on to the handle bars and foot pedals as the machine moved. Then, for the next 3 days, they rode relaxed for 50 seconds of each minute, and pushed, pulled, and pedaled actively for 10 seconds of each minute. The ratio of active riding was increased every few days, so that by the third week it was half of each minute, and by the seventh week the riders were performing 15 solid minutes of active riding. At the end of the 7 weeks, the step-test was again given to both groups of subjects, and their pulses were taken. The post-exercise pulse rates of subjects in the experimental group were found to have decreased an average of 30 heart beats per minute, with the lowest decrease 28 and the highest decrease 46. The pulse rates of subjects in the control group remained the same or changed no more than 4 beats, with an average difference between the initial and final tests of zero.(5分)4.1How many people were in each group?____(1分)A. 100.B. 50.C. 25.
