My Opinion on the Law of Visiting Parents

The newly amended law states that young family members should care about the needs of elderly family members, that those who live in a separate place should regularly visit the elderly parents.

Some people think it is beneficial to have the law because it is surely in keeping with Chinese culture that puts emphasis on filial piety family values. Besides, many Chinese parents emotionally rely on their children.

Others believe that it is hilarious to do so as private enterprises don’t have law granted home leave policies, so employees working there can hardly guarantee their rest time. Additionally, the heavy workload for many office workers makes the home-visiting even harder.

As far as I’m concerned, filial piety has been a part of Chinese culture everyone should follow it, but whether it should be covered by the law is still under debate. Moreover, as it has been written in the law, expressions like “regularly” should be carefully defined.?
